Mathieu L’Allier joined MontClerc Capital as Managing Partner, bringing with him recognized expertise in investments, management, and strategic and financial advisory. He founded, developed, and sold businesses in the financial services and entertainment sectors. As an investment banker, he advised companies on value-creation strategies, on mergers and acquisitions transactions totaling over $125 billion, and on financings totaling more than $50 billion.
Before joining MontClerc, Mathieu held several senior leadership positions, including as Vice Chairman, Managing Director, and Head of Investment Banking, Eastern Canada at Stifel. He was also the Founder and President of Mission Capital, a firm specializing in advisory services and buyouts for SMEs, as well as Managing Director and Head of Investment & Corporate Banking at BMO Capital Markets in Québec and the Maritimes. Mathieu is also President of the Investment Committee at the Montreal Heart Institute Foundation.
Mathieu is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from McGill University. He also studied International Business at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management and is a graduate of the Helios-McKinsey Leadership Program.
Martin brings over 25 years of investment experience to his role as Partner of the MontClerc Capital fund. Prior to joining the fund, he held the position of Senior Director at the Caisse de dépôt et placements du Québec (CDPQ), managing a portfolio of public and private Québec-based companies. He led numerous financing operations, accompanied dozens of companies in their value creation plans, and facilitated the privatization of several entities. He has served on public and private corporate boards and also on investment committees at CDPQ. Martin holds a CFA designation and is a graduate of École Polytechnique de Montréal and H.E.C.
Marc-Olivier’s experience spans over 12 years in investment and mergers & acquisitions. Before his tenure at MontClerc Capital as partner, he served as Director of Direct investments at Claridge Inc. Prior to that, he was a director in the investment banking group of CIBC Capital Markets in Montréal, where he was involved in the execution of M&A transactions and equity and debt financings. Earlier in his career, he worked for KPMG and Deloitte in mergers & acquisitions and audit. Marc-Olivier is a member of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec (CPA, CA).
Maxime Choinière has nearly 10 years of experience in finance, with deep expertise in private equity, business valuation, and transactional services. Before joining MontClerc, Maxime held the position of Associate at BMO Capital Partners, a private equity fund backed by Bank of Montreal, where he was involved in numerous transactions across various sectors. He also worked at PwC and EY, where he developed strong skills in financial modeling, auditing, and valuation. Maxime holds the CFA, CPA, and Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) designations, and is a graduate of HEC Montréal.

Chairman of the Board of HDG and Groupe Le Massif, Daniel first made his mark in the cultural world, co-founding Cirque du Soleil with Guy Laliberté in 1984. He was President of Cirque du Soleil Group from 1990 to 2001. At the same time, from 1988 to 2000, he was Vice President of the Réseau Admission network of computerized ticketing systems, as well as of Microflex. He was also Vice President of Scéno-Plus from 1995 to 1999.
In addition, Daniel has been closely involved in the development of numerous cultural organizations as a director, from ADISQ (from 1995 to 1996) to the Société du 400e de Québec (from 2005 to 2010). He was also actively involved as a member of the Board of Directors of the Office du tourisme du Québec from 2010 to 2015.
His honors include Officer of the Order of Canada and Officer of the Ordre National du Québec, he was honored as a Great Montrealer and named one of the builders of the century by Commerce magazine in 1999.
Daniel is currently Vice-President of Fondation Dufresne & Gauthier.
As a Fellow of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec, Claude is the President of HDG and Groupe Le Massif. He received le Prix Hermès 2005, which is the highest honor given by La Faculté des sciences de l’administration de l’Université Laval. He was also awarded the Govenor General’s medal for his philanthropic involvement in education.
Claude is and has been involved on the board of various firms and organizations, such as Groupe Le Massif, Chocolats Favoris, Réseau Charlevoix, Groupe Germain, SSQ, Société d’assurance-vie Inc. (Beneva), Société des Chemins de Fer du Québec Inc., and Fondation Dufresne et Gauthier. He is also the President of Fondation du Musée de la civilisation and a member of the board of Financial Innovation of Université Laval.
Philippe joined the HDG team in 2025 as Vice President, Legal Affairs. He plays an active role in overseeing HDG’s legal framework, bringing strategic and specialized expertise to private equity transactions, real estate matters, and corporate governance issues.
Prior to joining HDG, Philippe built his career at McCarthy Tétrault in Québec City and Montréal, where he practiced business law since being called to the Bar and served as a partner for over 25 years. His practice focused primarily on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, securities, and commercial law, both in Canada and internationally. Over the years, he has led numerous major transactions across the technology, life sciences, and energy sectors.
Philippe also serves as a lecturer at Université Laval, where he has been teaching business and securities law for nearly 15 years. He is recognized in several leading legal directories, including Lexpert and Chambers Canada.
